Painting - Oil On Canvas Board
Description
Original oil painting of abstract space. A broken planet hurling through space surrounded with a debris field. (4-1986)
I painted this small canvas board when I was thinking how long into the future will the Earth be a shattered planet forming its own debris rings of broken orbital trash. This was done 3 months after the Challenger explosion.
"This was my first abstract oil painting. That was in 1986. Cobalt blue wet base and a fan brush tipped with Titanium White to create the planet. Three red stripes are meant to represent space junk not only forming rings, but forming islands from an accretion process. The title "Horizons" is to suggest the new Earth horizon of space junk islands."
