Illuminated statue of the United States of America's 16th President, Abraham Lincoln, situated between pillars in the Greek styled Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC.
Opened in 1922, the memorial honors one of the greatest Presidents in American history. President from 1861 until his assassination in 1865, Lincoln led the country through its bloodiest war, the Civil War, keeping the Union intact and abolishing slavery. In the many years since his Presidency, historians have long considered one of the three greatest Presidents of all time.
