Description
Immerse yourself in this 24000 square foot museum which richly tells why Bristol is the Birthplace of Country Music. The Smithsonian-affiliated Museum opened in August of 2014.
A series of recording sessions held in 1927 in Bristol, Tennessee, considered by some as the "Big Bang" of modern country music. Jimmie Rodgers, and the Carter Family made their debuts commercially and successfully.
Bristol was one of several major southern cities that made recordings of blues, ragtime, gospel, ballads, topical songs, and string bands. It was a result of the Bristol Sessions that Bristol became known as The Birthplace of Country Music.
