Description
Holland Tulip Festival III is a collage and acrylic painting offered by fine artist Shadia Derbyshire. This collaged painting celebrates the delightful and colorful tulip blooms during the Holland Tulip Festival each spring in May. My mom traveled to Holland this past spring and shared some beautiful photos which inspired these latest pieces. The painting began as a soft under painting in acrylic, over which i layered various papers to create more refined shapes and patterns. I collaged the piece with hand torn, and painted, stamped, stenciled or otherwise embellished papers. Finally, I added beautiful foiled accents to really make the artwork pop and catch the light. This piece is on gallery wrapped canvas with a finish edge that reveals the art work process. it is coated to protect the papers and colors from the effects of UV light.
