This image, depicting a wall painting shows Siddhartha during his efforts to find enlightenment by fasting and being an ascetic. He was not-yet "The Buddha," at this stage of his life—and—he was starving (as his pronounced rib-cage shows). His life was saved when a young girl gave him the gift of a bowl of rice.
