Description
Walking around in the forest after a snowstorm is so much fun. I feel that the snow makes smaller details stand out when we might very easily overlook them. This is a tiny hemlock tree pine cone. This pine cone is about one quarter to one half inch in length. Hemlock produces male and female cones on the same tree. It about 20 years for seed to develop. Interestingly, a hemlock tree is about fifteen years old when it produces its first pine cone! Amazing!!

Elizabeth, I really love the "out of the way" magical capture of this beauty. Sometimes it pays to look at things from a different perspective. Love this one a lot!
