Description
While at the San Diego Zoo I had the opportunity to see my first Harpy Eagle. I was impressed with his plumage and stature. I had to move back and shoot so as to move my depth of field behind this magnificent bird.. We played with each other for a while. He was totally interested in me. A woman in some kind of panda jacket approached me and I asked her to walk slowly behind a bush just outside his cage. I asked her to wiggle a small branch. His reaction was what you see. He then launched to land on a branch just above the lady. The only shots of him doing his flight are all blurred but I kept them as you see his large wing span and some serious talons. A truly beautiful bird.

Cool photo, these Harpies are the weirdest and scariest looking birds. They look like they came from someone's nightmare.. I'd love to see one in person.. WOW...LF9
