Description
A trip to Harpers Ferry West Virginia is like taking a step back in time. Many of the buildings are beautifully maintained to present them much as they were. Some buildings date back to the 1700's.
Prior to and during the Civil War, Harpers Ferry figured prominently beginning with John Browns Raid and then in a decisive victory for Confederate legend T.J. Stonewall Jackson who captured the Union garrison and some 12000 prisoners.
Today you can walk through the town stopping in many of the shops, cafes and can even venture into some of the older buildings.
Harpers Ferry is situated where nature and history meet as well as the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers.
There are several trails to hike that offer spectacular views and the Appalachian Trail is one of them.
Another top attraction is the Harpers Ferry National Historic Park with visitor's center that as of Nov 2022 is closed for remodeling.
The physical address is Harpers Ferry National Historical Park
