Description
There are a number of species of Earth Tongue mushrooms - these are fairly common in damp, summer weather in our woods. They enjoy living in the moldering vegetation on the forest floor and sometimes they are covered with white pores that look like the mushroom is moldy.
This picture was taken in Green Lane, Pennsylvania, USA, on July23, 2012.

Very interesting and I like their name!
Carol Senske replied:
Isn't it fun how the common names are often as interesting as the mushrooms themselves:>)
