Description

Mimosa trees are small deciduous tree with puffy pink flowers and a fast growth rate. The mimosa blooms are pink, silky and delicate; and its leaves have a fern like appearance. The biggest downside of the mimosa is its invasive potential. The seedpods of the mimosa tree hang on after the foliage drops, giving a messy look throughout the winter.

At one point I wanted a mimosa tree in my yard, until I realized this was an invasive weed. On this summer evening I wanted to capture the beauty of this pink mimosa flower with its deep green fern like leaves. This image was digitally manipulated to bring out the soft silky appearance of the mimosa flower and also to bring out the gold orange buds on the flower.
