Cannons at the Old Civil War Fort Macon in North Carolina. This fort was designed to protect the vulnerable bay of North Carolina from attacks by Spanish and British attackers. It was also to protect the bay from Pirates, especially Blackbeard, who choose the Bay of Beaufort as his hangout. (It became his grave)
