Description
While photographing this pretty Gulf Fritillary Butterfly enjoying a big red Zinnia flower, I caught this bee fly buzzing on through, photo-bomb style. It sure made it a more interesting photograph as the sun shined on the wings of the butterfly and the flying insect.
Gulf Fritillary (Agraulis vanillae) butterfly. Their wings are long and when open reveal orange and black markings with 3 little white spots at the top of each wing. They are 2.5 to 3 inches in length and are usually seen from August through November in the south and in Texas.
Zinnias come in many colors and shapes and are easy to grow starting in late Spring through Summer. It is said that zinnias symbolize thoughts of friends who are not close by.
