Description
Wolcott, Vertmont, USA
This is one of only two remaining railroad covered bridges in Vermont, and one of only a handful in the U.S.
It was built in 1908 for the Boston and Maine crossing of the Lamoille River, and saved from destruction in 1968 with funds from the state and local governments.
A unique feature of this bridge is the full length cupola, which was designed to allow the smoke from stream engines escape, reducing the fire hazard for the wooden structure.
It's also known as the Chubb or Chub.
