After walking/climbing along the sunbaked, blazingly hot, and bone dry but mercifully short first half of the trail to Corona Arch (near Moab Utah), you round a corner in the trail to be treated to this visual feast! The sweat and thirst were all worth it. Having made this hike on a spur of the moment suggestion of a clerk in a hiking store, I had no idea what to expect so the WOW factor was extra special. Reading later I found a site that said “Few hikes culminate with such wow as the Corona Arch Trail”. How true! At this point in the trail you can see Bowtie Arch high above the trail on the left. It is what is called a pothole arch. To the right are the smooth curving lines of Carona Arch, curving down from the massive stone mountain. Corona Arch is one of the largest in the Moab area but is not in Arches National Park. It is composed of Navajo sandstone and measures 140 feet across by 105 feet high. If you zoom in, you can see the tiny people under the arch.
