Description
Each spring we wait for the fiddleheads to arrive. If one doesn't pay attention suddenly they have grown, are too tall and not at the right stage for "supper". All it takes is a bit of rain and suddenly they can seem full grown. If gathered soon after they emerge the young unfurled frond makes a great vegetable when boiled in water and served with butter, salt and pepper. "Fiddlehead Ferns" , by Joy Nichols, captures the ferns in the process of unfurling. The photo was edited with watercolor process and texture to give it an artistic effect.
