Description
Tarpon scales are nailed to the wall in the lobby of the Tarpon Hotel, Port Aransas, Texas. Tarpon were almost fished out, mostly due to environmental disturbances off the Mexico coastline. They are making a comeback and are a great sportfish.

Many thanks Jouko. Glad you like this one. Visited the small museum there two days ago. Franklin D. Roosevelt visited the island to try Tarpon fishing from his wheelchair. Fished all day and called it quits, but the deck hands urged him to try once again. He cast his line out once more and caught a fair sized Tarpon. There had been so many boats around him watching and 'protecting' him that they scared the fish away.

Thanks Michael, this old hotel has weathered hurricanes since the 1800's and is still there. I remembered the scales on the wall as a boy.
