Your line here is incredibly fine for charcoal, Paul. Is it the compression -- or the artist's exalted vision?
Paul Davenport replied:
Hi Joseph, I do quite a lot of preparation on each of the drawings, working out what I want to happen, before starting the final drawing. An example of the process is on bechance if you are interested? https://www.behance.net/gallery/26941273/Shadowtwister-Formation-drawing-timeline Because the marks are made so quickly, and the compressed charcoal is not editable the way I use it, I feel a need to have a pretty strong intent floating in my head before I 'wing it'.

Beautiful! I like your style!
Paul Davenport replied:
Thank you Gun. I find doing these drawings rather exhausting... as the conté isn't erasable I tend to do them in fits and starts as I work myself up to do the next bit. Fun to do though.
