Elk - Mammouth Hot Springs
Artist
Jan Mulherin
Medium

Description
During the rut, elk gather all along the Northern Range and at Yellowstone’s North Entrance, but activity is primarily concentrated in Mammoth Hot Springs. You might see the elk congregating on the lawns at Officer’s Row, alongside the Gardner River in the Gardner Canyon, or outside the park near the historic Roosevelt Arch. This elk was seen with a few females on a trail up along Mammouth Hot Springs. Luckily, I hadn't seen the videos of visitors being attacked or I may have not gotten close enough to get this shot! It is easy to forget these are wild animals.
