Drawing - Graphite A Pencil On Paper
Description
My hand drawn rendering of Edmonia Lewis is made with Graphite pencil on paper. All hanging hardware is included. The texture is smooth, mounted and framed. All materials are of top quality. Inspired by Edmonia Lewis's international reputation and ideas about anti-slavery. She sculpted figural works dealing with her Native American heritage and the oppression of black people. The first professional African-American sculptor, was born in Ohio or New York in 1846. Lewis began by producing portraits of well-known abolitionists such as William Lloyd Garrison. She depicted ethnic and humanitarian subjects which greatly distinguished her from other neoclassical sculptors. My hope is to bring her work and ideas into focus today, as the struggle continues to this day.
