Description
Deep in the native Hawaiian forest in an area that is maintained to remove invasive species, huge native Hawaiian ohi’a (Metrosideros polymorpha) and kopiko (Psychotria sp.) tower above the fern-carpeted forest floor. In this old-growth forest some of the trees are over 100 feet tall and several feet in circumference. A shaft of light penetrates the forest canopy, coating of light across the ferns.
