Title
Curve-billed Thrasher On Desert Hackberry
Artist
Judy Kennedy
Medium
Photograph - Photography
Description
The Curve-billed Thrasher is the most prolific and melodious songbird of the desert southwestern United States. The only other songbird with such musical virtuosity is the Northern Mockingbird who is a member of the same family. They are both grey and share the same habitat here in the Sonoran Desert of Arizona. The only way to tell them apart is their bills obviously. This thrasher was generously posing for me atop a thick, thorny Hackberry tree that provides excellent cover and shelter for all desert birds. I love listening to them!
