This large American Crocodile is one of a number that can be found at Gatorland in Kissimmee, Florida.
The American crocodile (crocodylus acutus) can be found from along the coastal areas of south Florida, Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola, southern Mexico, Central America, and northern South America to Ecuador and Venezuela. It prefers coastal saltwater anc brackish habitats.
Although shy in nature, they can be aggressive and should be considered dangerous. The males can grow up to twenty feet in length, but are rarely over 14 feet in the wild. Breeding females are smaller and rarely exceed betwee eight feet and twelve feet in length.
They will eat almost anything that moves, most prey is not very large. The larger crocs have been known to eat cattle and deer.
