"Colors, Illuminated" is the second in a series of "egg carton abstracts" I've been playing with... One day, when I must have been especially bored, the play of light and shadow across the surfaces of a simple cardboard egg carton caught my eye. I got a vague idea in my head that I might be able to do something with the textures and patterns; so, a few macro photographs and several sessions of experimentation with digital editing tools...
The fun thing about creating completely abstract pieces from photographic images is that there are absolutely no constraints... you can even incorporate some of the digital weirdness that can occur during processing into the look you're going for. 'Colors, Illuminated' is very far removed from its mundane gray-beige origins... I decided to go all out for maximum color saturation, strong textures and deep shadows for this one. Featured in the FAA art group, Abstract Features Daily, 07/25/22.
