Description
Hebe was the cup-bearer for the gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus, serving their nectar and ambrosia until she married Heracles (Roman equivalent: Hercules); her successor was the divine hero Ganymede. Another title of hers, for this reason, is Ganymeda, meaning "Gladdening Princess". ~wiki
This bronze sculpture is a part of an outdoor fountain in Grant Park. This piece was commissioned by Joseph Rosenberg who made his fortune in San Francisco. Mr. Rosenberg remembered his youth as a newsboy here in Chicago and not being able to get a drink of water, he vowed that should he ever become wealthy, he’d create a fountain where all people would be welcome to quench their thirst.
All proceeds will be donated to Chicago's Cornerstone Community Outreach in honor of photographer Richard Cleis, 1965-2021.
