It's that time of year again when the endangered Whooping Cranes come back to the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge and surrounding areas here in the Coastal Bend area of South Texas. This work depicts an adult crane catching his favorite meal, the Blue Crab - hence it's his "Catch of the Day".
There is a pair of these rare birds that appears just down the street from where I live and they are fascinating to watch and I am always impressed when they fly over the house! They love the blue swimming crab (as do many people) and come to this area for just that reason.

Jurgen, I'm sure you will, take a skimmer boat trip or the Aransas national wildlife refuge, there is a pair that often visits a spot on hwy 35 just north of Rockport - good luck!
