Hello Kristin, Lake Superior has so many faces. You captured one of the sunny ones. I do not think I had to memorize the poem, but that is a shame. However, my literary sister has filled me in on the details of the poem by one of her favorite authors. So glad for your 1st and 3rd contest wins. Kirsetn

Thanks very much, Kirsten and Kathy. Kirsten, this was the first time that I can remember being at Lake Superior. I'm sure we visited when I was a child, but I don't have any memory of it. Did you have to memorize the Hiawatha poem? The grade school that I went to in Bloomington had that task as part of the second grade curriculum. :)

Hello Again! I grew up in St. Paul and have visited Lake S. a few times over the years. One year, we had a cabin ON the lake, which we couldn't even see! Other times, it's been perfect. A beautiful spot, regardless. Sincerely, Kirsten

Hi, Kirsten. Thanks. This was only the second time that I've been there. I moved away from Minnesota when I was a young girl, but did have to memorize that Hiawatha poem in 2nd grade. The first time I was there was in '06, the wind was blowing about 40 mph and it was freezing cold and overcast - about 20 degrees! This most recent visit, it was gorgeous - in the 70's and sunny and breezy. A perfect day for taking photos. Hope you're having a great weekend. :)

Hello! ...by the shining big sea water! How I enjoy the big lake when I have a chance to visit. Fog or no fog--it is always as beautiful as you have shown us here. A fave! Sincerely, Kirsten

Such gorgeous color, such wilderness... in my opinion Lake Superior is perfectly named.
