"Broken Wings". This is a limited edition of a digital artwork. Please go to the Purchase Info page before ordering. Story of the Iron Butterfly - When I was in my early twenties I had a 1957 Chevrolet pickup truck that was willed to me by a deceased aunt. I drove it for a while until it broke down on me one day and I didn't have the resources to fix it. So over a period of time it began to rust from being exposed to the weather. One day I notice that the paint had become exposed from the fender and it left the metal frame underneath. The colors of the fading metal was fantastic so I took pictures of them using a Minolta Maxxum camera with black and white film. To create the butterfly design, I found a stencil on the internet of a butterfly that I felt was appropriate. I then used Photo Shop to edit and colorize the design and overlay it into the stencil. What I want viewers to think and/or feel about this design is how the advent of technology and the encroaching of mankind is destroying the natural beauty of our environment. I grew up in the country and I watched as the land was being over developed by farming and gas pipe lines (that ran across my property) and inevitably destroyed the wild life and insects. By making this a digital piece of art I was able to create a hybrid image that has morphed into something mechanical with iron wings.
