Description
Just a little north of the Cinque Terre region of Italy is the little town of Bonassola. Some people may stay there, in search of a mellow holiday and a nice beach, but more people probably experience Bonassola by riding a bike there to visit for a few hours. You can stop in Levanto, rent a bike, and pedal the 3 km distance along the coastal cycle path that runs along the route of the old railway through ancient tunnels with intermittent but incredible views of the sea. You can take a detour off the coastal bike path to head up to the visit the chapel of the Madonnina della Punta. The chapel is located on a tip of land at the west side of town. It was built towards the end of the 17th century and acquired its front porch during a renovation in 1932. The view from the promontory gives great coastal views of the Cinque Terre regions.
