Description
So the conversation goes, "Earthling, Take me to your LEADER!" and the answer is as Bold. "Just because you have a big car you think you can date my Linda? SCRAM!"
Where did these men go? Cocky, confident and as bold as ten lions!
They were the men of my grandfather’s age. These guys would wear neatly with a full suit and all. It didn’t matter if the guy lived in a thatched hut, they were always bold and beautiful!
They feared nobody. These guys were the lions of their homes. It didn’t matter if he stayed deep in the forest with his family. You came near that home ready for war one way or another.
It was particularly an uphill task for any young men who fancied their daughters. It did not matter if your father was rich or you had tones of cash. You just had to fallow the traditional rules. You didn’t just emerge from some corner with a cock and bull story about how much you loved their daughter. You had to send some men of his age to talk to him on your behalf.
Those were the Men! Today is all bullshit. You will find a father and his son dating the same woman at the same time!
In this painting I wanted to capture the essence of that bravado, the sheer cockiness! The man would sooner throw a club at a formidable enemy and declare a war! You come into his home uninvited, you just had to deal with him. You had your way over his dead body. Those were tough guys.
These guys were made of freedom-fighter material! They only gave a hoot when they were dead! Man! Where did those men go?

I love the way you describe a father's protection of his daughter. In a sense he was protecting his grandchildren, too, by ensuring that their father was a good man in so much as he could. He was showing that she was precious. Societal expectations were there for good reasons. LF
Anthony Mwangi replied:
I totally agree Bonnie. We just now realize how those safeguards were and all still important. Taboos and traditions were for the goodness of the community

A beautiful work, Anthony, revealing that standing your ground is a choice we all can make.
Anthony Mwangi replied:
Hi Joel, I really like that. The world is not fair, but it should be. It owes us that right! Sometimes we just have to demand it the best way we know how.

Amazing painting, Anthony. Great rendering. I think maybe you are like that man with a stylus instead of a club. l/f
Anthony Mwangi replied:
Very grateful Jeanne. May be that is all life is about. Standing your ground. Dying with your boots on
