Title
Bleak House
Artist
Rosemary Colyer
Medium
Painting - Pastel On Board
Description
In this painting, I tried to capture the stark drama of this winter scene in Gloucestershire, UK. The old Cotswold-stone house is set on a hilltop, with its bare, ivy-clad winter trees and dry-stone wall. The day was dark and the sky threatening, but the scene was imbued with peace. I believe that, in days gone by, it may have been an old parsonage and imagine its early inhabitants living a life of genteel poverty and public service.

Wow! The very limited color palette and the haunting subject really caught my attention. I enjoyed the description, too. I imagine the same thing about the early inhabitants of this house.Like/f

This is outstanding in so many ways, you are a true master of many mediums. I have English decent on both sides and delve into the 12 generations who lived in England on occasion. The old architecture always reminds me of my forefathers and their lives there, this is really a beautiful scene. FAV
