Title
Bladder Wrack Seaweed Tree Sculpture On Sand
Artist
Richard Brookes
Medium
Photograph
Description
Bladder wrack seaweed (Fucus vesiculosus) on a perfect sand background resembles a tree or sculpture. As sunset approached the fading light cast faint shadows and the seaweed looked metallic as if it were made of bronze. Taken in November on Sandymouth Beach, North Cornwall, SW England, UK. The seaweed, a macroalgae, is recognisable from its air vesicles (bladders) from which it gets its name. It is also a source of iodine.
