Black Bear - Autumn Stare
Wildlife Fine Art
Photograph - Digital Art
A black bear from my original photograph that was roaming back in a dark shaded aspen grove in the fall. "Black Bear - Autumn Stare" was created to emphasize the feeling of Autumn, the continuous changing colorful wilderness environment. The nights cool off and start to freeze along with the days light shorting. The beginning of fall to a bear means an urgency to consume a lot of food, the instinct to build up weight to survive through the winter. An inquisitive Black Bear edges out in the open sunlight to investigate. Preparing for hibernation is an adaptation to a seasonal shortage of food, low environmental temperatures, and snow cover on the ground. Hibernation in black bears typically lasts 3 to 5 months. The denning period in Yellowstone National Park is approximately 5 months. During winter, black bears consume 25 to 40 percent of their body weight. Their foot pads peel off while they sleep, making room for new tissue. This fine art work I digitally generated from my original photograph.
