A black and white image of Al Manama Summer Bed and House with Cooling Tower in Dubai. This is a traditional style of house lived in by the local Emirate Dubai population before its period of modernisation. The house shows the traditional cooling tower used before the days of air-conditioning and next to the wood a reed structure we see an Al Manama or summer bed. This was a simple wooden platform built high above the sand and used for sleeping during the hot summer nights where temperatures can reach as high as fifty degrees celcius.
