This photo of a monarch butterfly feeding on a bull thistle flower was taken in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in late summer. Thistles are prickly and seen as noxious weeds, yet they produce seeds and a high amount of nectar for pollinators such as goldfinches, hummingbirds, monarchs, painted lady butterflies, and bees. In the same way, those prickly situations in our lives that we would prefer to get rid of are the very things that produce benefits to us and enhance our beauty.
