Painting - Acrylic Painting
This is an original acrylic seascape painting on canvas. I think everyone is captivated by the glow of a coastal lighthouse casting its beam out to sea. Many a mariner has been saved by the beacon leading them home.
According to the United States Lighthouse Society website, there were never more than about 850 lighthouses in operation at once in the U.S., although about 1,500 were constructed over the years. There were 267 constructed on the U. S. shores of the Great Lakes. Michigan had the most with about 140, followed by Maine with about 80. The first lighthouse in America was at Boston on Little Brewster Island (1716). The original tower was destroyed by the British and eventually reconstructed in 1784. According to Lighthouse Directory, there are more than 18,600 lighthouses worldwide.
I am an exhibiting artist in southwest Florida and my art has been exhibited in galleries in Florida, Georgia and North Carolina and is in collections nationwide. I create abstract photography, mixed media photo painting, acrylic mixed media, and acrylic paintings. Many would make great decorative throw pillows or shower curtains. I've even had a couple abstracts made into my personal cell phone covers. Please check out my Facebook page Doodleng Art by Sharon Eng for announcements and more information about my art. This image would be a good selection for business or corporate wall art and decor or in any home.
