Be The Change Love Hope, by Jackie Carpenter. When the 2nd anniversary of Aylan Kurdi's death rolled around and I realized that much of humanity had not changed our views on helping the HUGE refugee problem I wanted to do something to speak out. I have been told no one will buy this piece and that's fine. They probably won't, I hope they do because I will be donating all the profits to the people fleeing Syria. These people, other people just like you and I are legitimate refugees, fleeing for their lives. I can't imagine how hard it would be to see your whole world go up in smoke. To have to run for your lives and pray every day and night that your children, you entire family would be safe. I don't know what we are expecting these people to do. They are families with children, sisters, brothers,parents,grandparents. They had lives, jobs, homes, food for the children. They were us. We have failed little Aylan and those like him. Please, LOVE, Hope and Be the Change this world needs. I was going to paint the flags of so many countries behind the wall including the USA, but it really is all of the countries. We are one world, so I used the United Nations flag instead. I know a painting of a dead child is not fun to look at, but I think sometimes we need to be reminded of what needs fixing. We can't hide from things that are hurting so many. Goddess Bless.
