Title
Arabic Alphabet, Diacritic, And Numerals - Black And White With Border
Artist
Wafa Dahdal
Medium
Digital Art - Digital Art
Description
This artwork features the Arabic alphabet, or Arabic script (abjad, al-abjadiya al-arabiya) as appears in the common (hija'i) order, which is used in modern dictionaries and other reference books. The Arabic alphabet is composed of 28 letters that are written from right to left.
In addition to the letters, featured in this artwork are the Eastern Arabic numerals from zero to nine as well as most common diacritics (accents or special characters [harakat]) that are used in Arabic script writing.
The artwork, created digitally, is released to commemorate International Mother Language Day (IMLD), which is observed annually on February 21, as declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 1999.
The annual observance of mother tongue languages is intended to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and inclusion.
This artwork is part of a series presenting the alphabets from different languages - for the love of languages and cultural diversity in our universe! A perfect addition to your office or library wall art.
A border was added to this art piece to give the effects of a blackboard (or a hint of it!). If you prefer the art without the border, see the piece titled "Arabic Alphabet, Diacritic, and Numerals."
