And Carry A Big Stick
Photograph - Digital Photography
During our recent trip to Wisconsin, I took daily first morning strolls in the neighborhood of our Airbnb room, near the western shore of Lake Monona. The first morning, as I returned toward the house facing directly into the sun, I saw this imposing silhouette of a large dog in exactly this pose from nearly a block away. He sat there patiently as I walked toward him, clearly anticipating some attention and possibly some play time with the stick. As I approached, he finally started getting excited and wagging his tail, but never barked. I wrestled him for the stick for a minute before giving up and moving on. I got the feeling that this was a morning routine, and sure enough, he was out there a few days later, waiting for another passerby to notice him. I processed three exposures as an HDR to allow a better balance of the light from the sidewalk and the dark shadows, and to show his expressive face.
