Description
It was a cold, rainy, foggy day when I shot this. I was in Chauvin (pronounced show-van) Louisiana and left that town of approximately 3400 and followed the road out of town for about a half hour to waters edge of the Gulf of Mexico to area known as Cocodrie Louisiana which is an unincorporated fishing, shrimping and crabbing village in Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana, ten miles south of Chauvin and due south of the city of Houma. The town name Cocodrie , is derived from a Cajun French word for alligator. It is part of the Houma–Bayou Cane–Thibodaux Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Acadian settlement is known for being very near the landfall location for Tropical Storm Matthew on October 10, 2004, and Hurricane Gustav on September 1, 2008.
There are many Fish Camps, Charter fishing trips, Fish cleaning stations, plenty of rooms to rent. Cocodrie is considered to be one of the best fishing destinations offering fly fishing, deep-sea fishing, inland fishing, and swamp fishing. And thanks to the Gulf climate, fishing is a year-round activity. Alongside the small boat with the two fishermen is a shrimp boat that is recognized by the rigging.
