View of the interior of a home under construction in Katy, Texas, as viewed by an iPhone held up to the hole where the doorknob would be. The door could not be opened, so the prospective owner was unable to get in. Instead, she held her iPhone up to the small hole, which frames this picture, and took a shot. The camera then captured what was not visible to the human eye. Where she had seen only a dark hole and no subject, there was actually lots of work in progress in the interior and, on the far wall, a symbol that reminded her who was, and is, in charge: the Project Manager, or Master Carpenter, represented by a cross.
One year after move-in, this new homeowner weathered Hurricane Harvey here, including the 26 tornados that passed directly over this area. Though trapped by a moat of water, no flooding. Not a single stone out of place. My former home, sold for a fresh start after the death of a loved one, was all but destroyed.
Available in black-and-white, this color version in neutral brown tones would serve as an unusual conversation piece for home or office. Could be construed as religious or symbolic, a wild-and-crazy shot that might not have worked, but did. An exterior shot of an interior. No sky, no people. Just floor and walls covered with paper, making some walls look a bit crooked. A story-telling scene and lesson learned: Take a chance. Point your camera and take a shot. It might not turn out. Then again, it might. What if you forever missed seeing what was really there in full view, and you were only temporarily blocked from entering.
