This Rufous would practice hovering above the feeder to watch for motion that might threaten him/her.
This photograph was not taken at night, despite the black background. Shooting at very fast shutter speeds and very high sensitivity settings the natural daylight does not provide enough light on the acreage behind the feeder. The bird and feeder are illuminated with strobe lights to showcase the iridescent feathers and the ultra-highspeed wings.
