Description

Agapanthus, Lily of the Nile, a popular perennial that grows from a bulb-like rhizome, is a tough survivor in the face of chronic drought. Their strappy evergreen or semi-evergreen leaves provide winter presence while blue or white flowers add a charge of mid to late summer color. I love them when they are still in buds, looking like candles. My favorite color is the lavendar shades.

I found this particular plant in blosom, in the gardens off the Normandy coastline decorating Sword Beach, known for the D-Day invasion of WW2 and decided to take a close-up macro to best show off the candles, amazing shape and impressionist feel.
