"A Maiko in Gion"
A maiko, or apprentice geisha, walks through a light rain to an appointment in Gion, located in Kyoto, Japan. The maiko wears a floral kimono, traditional kanzashi (hair ornaments) and carries a white parasol with a red interior as she makes her way down the stone walkway, just as the sun begins to set and her work day begins. I used a modern pointilist style and neutral shades of brown, cream, peach and red in my selective color digital portrait. Please visit my Asian Art gallery to see more of my Far East artwork.
