A Bittersweet Moment

Description
The Oriental Bittersweet Vine may be extremely invasive, but it is so beautiful in the fall. It is my most favorite vine. It can grow for more than 20 years and reach amazing heights of more than 40 feet tall, which is one of the reasons Bittersweet is so successful surviving. Birds love the berries, they help to spread the vine far and wide. Despite its beauty, all parts of the plant are poisonous to cats and dogs and not so much fun for humans who consume the berries.
Oriental Bittersweet was brought to the U.S. from Eastern Asia in the 1860's and has become a permenant fixture in New England. It is a popular decoration, easily incorporated into wreaths and other fall decorations.
I used multiple filters and layers in Photoshop and Photomatix to achieve this paintography look.
This Oriental Bittersweet vine was found growing in New Milford, CT.

Marti, fall is when the berries turn orange and red, and they just pop all over!
