Masako (Katayama) Johnson grew up in Kobe, Japan during WWII and moved to the United States in the 1950s. She was a dressmaker and designer in Honolulu, HI for 5 years. After moving to California in the 1960s, Masako became an instructor and featured artist with the Coronado Art Association in Coronado, CA for 19 years. She owned and operated Masako’s Arts and Crafts from 1982-1988. Masako is accomplished in Sumie brush painting (Japanese watercolor), silk powder techniques, oil, acrylic, pen and ink, and pastels.
