This small, cute bird of the flycatcher family is found in parts of tropical forest in Central and South America, in Peru, Ecuador, Columbia, Venezuela, Panama, and Honduras. When agitated, this bird will raise its head feathers, which form what looks like a small crown. I enjoyed seeing this bird while visiting Wildsumaco, which lies on the eastern slope of the Andes in northern Ecuador.
