The B-52’s is the debut album by the Athens, Georgia new wave band The B-52’s, released 6 July 1979. With its kitshy lyrics, party atmosphere and endlessly danceable forcebeat format the band established their fanbase.
The album peaked at #59 on the Billboard 200. The song “Rock Lobster” reached #56 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. In 2003 VH-1 named The B-52’s the 99th Greatest Album of All Time. In 2020 the Rolling Stone magazine ranked the album #198 on its list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
