My brother lives near Denver Colorado and goes fishing often. He caught some Northern, or "Virile", crayfish that are about half the size of a lobster and sent me photos. I did two drawings to send to him. His wife is Chinese-American, and in Mandarin, a Crayfish is called a "small dragon shrimp"! I love that!
I was fascinated with the color of the claws, the size of the crayfish (we grew up in Michigan and our crayfish in local waters are maybe an inch and a half to 2 inches long) and the huge orange knobby growths along the claws. They are ugly and beautiful all at the same time!
