Dogwood In Full Bloom

Description
Springtime and this Dogwood is in full bloom. The official state tree of Virginia and the official state flower of North Carolina. It is considered a symbol of purity, strength and affection. It is intrinsically connected to Christianity and Easter. The legend of the Dogwood teaches that the petals form in the shape of a cross, the center holds a "crown of thorns" and the tips of red represent the "blood spilled on the cross." In the Southern United States the beautiful flowers usually burst open about the same time as Easter.
Perfect for your office or home. Fine art prints, puzzles, greeting cards and many home products are available.

Love dogwoods especially at Easter. It was the dogwood tree that provided the wood used to build the cross on which Jesus was crucified. Because of its role in the crucifixion, it is said that God both cursed and blessed the tree making it so that it would never again be large enough to make into a cross.
