This is a black-winged stilt, photographed in Tanzania Africa. They are wading birds about 13-14” tall and are widespread throughout much of Africa and Eurasia. They have long pink legs, a long thin black bill and are blackish above and white below, with a white head and. Males have a black back, while females’ backs have a brown hue. They live in brackish habitats, eating mainly insects and crustaceans.
